The Metal Sculpture Studio was organized in 1970 in part due to the near demise of the aerospace industry of which Mr. Berger was a design engineer working for the Westinghouse Corporation in Baltimore, Maryland.

Mr. Berger’s mechanical engineering training combined with his natural artistic ability led him toward the art of Metal Sculpture. With the aid and support of his wife, Mr. Berger decided to make a mid life career change and become a full time artist.

The early years were devoted to teaching students the fundamentals of metal working and relied heavily on the use of the oxygen and acetylene torch for cutting and bonding designs. Mr. Berger and his students mutually benefited through their interaction and sharing of ideas. In all, over 800 students passed through Mr. Berger’s doors during a ten year period.

As time passed the shop acquired a diversity of metal working equipment and the instructional phase of Mr. Berger’s career diminished. More and more time was spent creating unique designs for sale at the budding art-fairs spreading throughout the country. Mr. Berger’s shop has expanded throughout the years. Mr. Berger continuously concentrates his efforts on creating high quality and unique metal sculpture designs.
